In Memory of Jon Stoll, extraordinary fiddler and friend |

Jon attended Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, majoring in viola, theory
and composition. He was concertmaster of the Chattanooga Symphony, and played
viola in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra for 10 years. |
Members of The front Porch Boys Bluegrass Band sadly lost a member of the group,
when fiddler, Jon Stoll passed away suddenly at his home on March 28, 2007. The
remaining members of the band sang and played a fond farewell at his Memorial
Service, held April 2. |
Jon's interest in bluegrass began in the mid '70s when he fell under the spell of
Vassar Clements, Bobby Hicks and Richard Greene. In addition to playing with The Front Porch Boys, Jon has performed or recorded with such reknown entertainers as Peggy Lee, The Smothers Brothers, Tony Bennett, Red Skelton, Jack Benny, Liberace, Joey Heatherton, Chicago, and Wisconsin bluegrass bands - Grass Food and Lodging, the Morgan Brothers, Pike Creek, The Smoked Chubs, and BlueGrace. |
A very heartwarming obituary written by Amy Robideau Silvers, was published by the
Milwaukee Journal on April 1, 2007. To read that obituary, click here. |
